Wyatt's Revenge by H.Terrel Griffin

I received this book through Reviewthebook.com and am not required to write a positive review.

Wyatt's Revenge by H. Terrell Griffin is a rollercoaster ride of a book. When someone ordered a hit on Laurence Wyatt they didn't realize that his friend Matt Royal , a retired lawyer living on a small island in the Florida Keys) would take it upon himself to revenge his death. But just why was Wyatt killed in the first place? As Matt follows one clue after another and works his way up the chain of people involved in the hit he gets closer and closer to the answer.

This is usually not my kind of book. I like mysteries but more of the cozy type than the harboiled type. I did find myself entertained though and I would recommend this to anyone that likes this type of book. Very well done.

There is violence and some language.

Feeding my Addiction

I have been busy signing up and joining book reviewers programs and blogs.  This is a great way to get free books to read and all I have to do is read them and comment on them.  WOW!!  I hope to find some gems in the lot and also meet alot of great people along the way.   If you are interested I have several badges on my sidebar that you can click on and join.

This weekend is suppose to be beautiful.  Unfortunately Hannah was sick yesterday and I am not sure if she will be much better today.  She suffers from tonsilitis but it never makes it to strep throat which it needs to do to get them out (I think 3 times in one year).  So she has to put up with this several times a year.  I think Spring and Summer are the worst times to be sick.

I made bubble pizza last night.  It is just hamburger and spaghetti sauce poured over biscuits and baked at 400 degrees for about 10minutes then add cheese and baked for another 5 minutes.  (in a 13 x 9 pan)  make sure you grease your pan.

Tonight is pork chop bake.  I plan on cooking out tomorrow when my two oldest come to visit.

Reality

I am a sucker for the so called reality show.  Alot of times it is kinda like a car wreck,  you can't help but watch.  One of my favorite reality shows though is about Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.  They just announced yesterday that they are expecting their 19th child!!  Their baby will be born about 5 months after the birth of their first granchild.  My husband did the math and that is over 14 yrs being pregnant.  I admire them for their dedication to the calling that they feel that God has givien them.  If you would like to read their story you can here duggarfamily.com.  I admire them not only for being able to handle that many children and seemingly doing a wonderful job but for consistently showing Godly love and principles every week on their show.  I am sure that the show has afforded them more opportunties than they would have had without it but they don't seem to have let it go to their heads like other reality families.  I struggle with trying to get just one child to stay on track. I also admire them for dedication to frugalness.  They actually are debt free and didn't inccur any debt when they built their house which they used as a homeschooling  project for their children.  Here's wishing them health and happiness with their new bundle of joy.

My arm is a bit better today.  It is hurting less and less.

I just posted a review of the book Someday by Karen Kingsbury on my other blog A room Without Books is empty  This is a the third book in the third series about the Baxter Family.  I really enjoy Karen's books.

My homeschool link for today is another all inclusive curriculumn site.  amblesideonline.com  is a site that has every grade laid out for you and it follows Charlotte Mason philosophy.  Great site.

So it has been awhile since I have posted. I just finished reading New Moon by Stpehanie Meyer. I really don't understand what the big to do is about. Maybe it is because I am a Mom and Old but I find the relationship between Bella and Edward a bit stalkerish and obsessive. I enjoyed the book alot more when Edward was out of the picture and it was mainly about Jacob and Bella. I found myself skimming the pages when Edward reentered the scene. Oh well hopefully the next book I pick up will be better.
I started the third book in a series by Tracie Peterson called Whispers in Winter. I always enjoy book by Tracie and this one seems to be no different.

I finished Listening to Dead Man's Walk by Larry McMurtry. This is a prequel to Lonesome Dove. Although it was not as good as Lonesome Dove I still found it very interesting. We first meet Call and Gus and learn how they meet. We also find out how Gus met Clara and how Call meet Maggie. I felt like I was actually on the trail with the Rangers and felt sad when they lost many of their friends and felt scared when Buffalo Hump, Kicking Wolf and Gomez were after them. I grew to like Matilda who was not very likable at the beginning. I found the most striking scene was when they meet the Indians while they were going to Santa Fe with a woman who had leprosy and what she does to scare the Indians. I am looking forward to listening to Comache Moon.
I stayed up late last night or should I say early this morning to finish Riven by Jerry Jenkins. I like this book from the beginning but the end was really riveting. Thomas is a pastor that feels like he hasn't really done much for the kingdom and takes a job at a maximum security prison and feels like he is even less effective because of all the restictions placed on him. Brady is the typical bad kid. He grew up with no father and an mostly absent mother who is abusive to his little brother when she is present. He gets chance after chance and makes the wrong choices time and again. He eventually ends up at the same supermax that Thomas works . What happens when these two meet changes the prisoners, the country and maybe even the world.

For anyone who is interested I belong to a great site called Shelfari. It allows you to keep track of your books read, ones you are reading and ones that you'd like to read. You can also belong to some groups and talk with other readers about different books. It has encouraged me to read more and given me ideas of books that I would never read with out the site.
My most recent book that I have finished is The Trick or Treat Murder by Leslie Meier. This is a cozy mystery about Lucy Stone who lives in Tinker's Cove. I recently discovered cozy mysteries which are mysteries that don't have alot of sex or language in them. It is nice to read them. This book has Tinker's Cove dealing with an arsonist who is burning down buildings around Halloween time. He has also just taken his first fatality. It was a pretty good mystery and I didn't figure it out until the arsonist was revealed.
