Homeschool Thursday

Well it was back to school for us this week.  For the most part it has gone fairly smoothly except for one cranky session after lunch on the first day (both of us were cranky).

For Bible this year we are going to spend quite a bit of time in Psalms.
Right now we are using:

Psalms: A life-changing encounter with God's Word from the book of (LifeChange)
Psalms: a Life Changing encounter

After we do this Hannah and I both will be working our way through

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent, Member Book
Stepping Up by Beth Moore

Then if we finish that and there is still some time left in the year

We will do The Psalms study from this site.  We have used these lessons for the Books of the Bible up to Psalms and have been quite pleased with them.  David Padenfield is the author and does a great job.

I hope that everyone else is having a great school year so far!

What a beautiful day!!

I woke up this morning to the sun shining bright here in Pennsylvania.  It is still cold but not  quite as cold as yesterday.

First and foremost I would ask everyone to pray for Beth Moore of Living Proof Ministries. Seems that she has been dealing with some health issues and had surgery on Monday and has been having a rough time of it.  I have really enjoyed Beth's ministry.

I have several links today for some Christmas crafts.  Here you can learn to make some cute marshmallow snowmen (I am a sucker for snowmen)

This site tells you how to make Chocolate playdough.

I remember making sparkly pinecones when I was a little girl.  Here is a how to make these.

Here is a link to make a a Christmas tree from craft sticks.

Christmascookie.com has recipes for 540 cookies and counting.  You should be able to find something that interests you.

FaveCraft.com has several cute craft ideas. Claypot SnowmanCandy Cane Santa,Free e-book of easy crafts, gifts in a jar, and Holiday home

I would encourage to look around each of these sites and comment on the blogs especially.  who knows you may find a new favorite.

The culture we live in is training us to be impatient

The title of this post was something that Beth Moore said in my Bible study on Esther.  Timing is very important in the book of Esther.  Last nights lesson was on Chapter 5 verses 1-8.  In it Esther is asked twice by the king what her request is and she puts him off because it is not the right time.  We get tired of waiting for things like events, people etc. but the Bible tells us to wait upon the Lord.  When we wait upon the Lord he will renew our strenghth Isa. 40:31.  I am really enjoying my study of Esther.

Anything I have Achieved, I failed my way there-Beth Moore

I try to listen to either Beth Moore or Kay Arthur on my way home from work every morning.  This morning it was Beth and in her talk she made the Quote that is the title for this post.
Isn't this quote true for most of our lessons learned.  I know that I have failed more times than I care to count but if we are faithful and apply the lessons we have learned we will eventually make it.

Heart of the Matter is offering a free Lapbook from A journey through Learning if you sign up for their newsletter.  Also A Journey Through Learning is offering a free lapbook on the 17th centruy for signing up for their  newsletters.  My daughter has done several lapbooks and really liked them.

In depth Bible Study

It's fall and time to start another Beth Moore indepth Bible study.  I went to Pequea BIC church on Thursday for this study.  It works out well because they changed the youth group time to Thursday nights for Sr High and Wednesday nights for Jr. High so Faith no longer will take Hannah to youth group.  Any way  I saw several people that I know from when we attended there and I meet a really nice lady that will be in my discussion group.  This was the intro session so we didn't break up into groups but watched the intro video.  Beth was her usual funny, insightful self and she got us all excited about doing this study on Esther.  I will try very hard to finish this one.  Seems that I don't quite finish them up but I have decided to go over the old one I never finished and finish them up by this time next year.  Anyway I really like Beth Moore.  I listen to her on my mp3 Player that I download from here at oneplace.com.  I put the downloads on a cd so I can listen over and over again.  I also dvr her once a week from Life Today with James Robison.  Her blog that she writes on with her daughters is here.

Update on my arm.  It is feeling much better I have been able to not use a heating pad at night when I sleep and was actually able to sleep for a bit on my left side.

I didn't post a homeschool link yesterday  so here is the one for today.  The Home Scholar is run by Lee Binz and she has alot of info on how to go about homeschooling high school.  She also has a great membersclub that you can join for a fee.  I haven't really found much on schooling high school and although I have already graduated two I found alot of good info on her site.

Just a quick Word today

I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord.  They will be My people, and I will be their God because they will return to Me with all their heart.  Jeremiah 24:7
Believe it or not the unltimate goal God has for us is not power but personal intimacy with Him. Yes, He wants to bring us healing, but more than anything, He wants us to know our healer.  -  Beth Moore

I read this little book by Beth Moore called " A Quick word with Beth Moore Praying God's Word" yesterday.  It really helped me to look more closely at my prayers and to really think about the Scriptures as I am reading them and prayback to God when I am at a loss of how to pray.
