Homeschool Thursday

It has been awhile since I posted anything about Homeschooling.

Hannah is winding down her sophmore year.  She says that she is getting tired of The Lord of Rings.  It has been a long year.

Hannah will be going to Washington DC in May to the Smithsonian with her Constitution Class.  I will have her take pictures and post them here.

The resource I would like to share are the newsletters from Crosswalk.  They have been especially helpful to me in my journey.  They have several so hopeful you will find one that meets your needs. You can sign up here.

Tv Tuesday - Homefront

Homefront was a show that I thought was to short lived.  I have been watching some episodes and enjoying them all over again.

I have been really been hit about all the racism that was going on back them (unfortunately some of it is still going on ).  One scene had the elderly mother of Abe - the black driver of  the wealthy family the Sloans- went into the hospital for a gall bladder removal.  When they were wheeling her into the room for recovery the white woman in the romm pitched a fit.  Gloria- Abe's wife- went to the head nun and demanded that the situation be taken care of.  The white woman was removed from the room.  The mother wakes up and then when she finds out that her new roommate is Japanese, she pitches a fit and says pretty much that excast same thing the white woman said about her.  ( this show takes place after WWII)

Movie Monday

So I am finally back after having computer problems.  After we got the computer taken care of we started to have wireless problems.  They wanted $70 to tell us how to fix our configuration problem.  We decided to buy a new router instead for $40.  Now we are back in business.

For the movie for this week I couldn't find a trailer.

From Amazon.com
A young Kurt Russell stars in this good-natured comedy. Steve Stone is an ambitious mailroom clerk at a third-rate television network when he stumbles onto the fact that his girlfriend's pet chimpanzee, Raffles, can pick ratings winners. Suddenly he's well on his way up the corporate ladder and getting his network to No. 1. Keeping Raffles and his abilities a secret provide the perfect setting for wacky, wicked comedy. The truly funny cast of Joe Flynn, Harry Morgan, Wally Cox, John Ritter, and others make up the executives and their cohorts. Not wanting to be made fools of, the executives try to save their dignity as well as their jobs by relocating Raffles. There's lots of physical comedy and downright silliness. Talk about monkey business! Released in 1971, this film can appear dated at times, but the story still holds up today. A likable, fun movie that harks back to a time of innocent mischief. Refreshingly void of techno gadgets and helmet laws, this film is just good, clean, wholesome fun for the whole family. --Peggy Maltby-Etra

My Take:

I picked this up with my Disney Movie Points.  This movie would be great for the whole family.  Just a staright forward family comedy with no language or sex.  When the chimp is on the screen he steals the show.   I have always liked the earlier Disney live action movies (so much better than the ones they have today).

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Thanks to my husband setting me up with a hotspot on my phone I can post again.  I will probably only post this one post until we get the issue with our internet figured out.  (we are also looking very intently on what we are spending for internet and cable and may be making some major decisions but that is another post)

Anyway I had a major case of foot in mouth disease last night at work.  I let alot of my frustration come out and unfortunately I was telling someone who is very close with my boss and I will probably be paying the consequences of my lack of thought and heat of the moment ramblings.  I should know better and I behaved badly.

I will spending alot of time in the future mending fences.  I have been praying that God would give me the wisdom and the right words.  It wasn't anything that I could lose my job over but I shouldn't have let everything out.

Hopefully I can smooth things over a bit but I will have to wait and see.

I hope that everyone has a great week and I will return when my connection is a bit more reliable.
